Back in 2014, I composed music for a play, Johnny Breitwieser, written by Austrian playwright Thomas Arzt, produced by Schauspielhaus Wien. I never anticipated releasing this music until I started my Patreon last year. I chose six songs that I felt fit together nicely and gave a good overview of the music from the play, and through the support of my patrons, recorded these songs for an EP.
Last month, I asked my patrons to collaborate on a song with me, to send me simple recordings of themselves singing. I received an overwhelmingly positive and excited response and a bunch of recordings. I took all of the recordings and edited them into one big choir of my patrons, The Celebration Choir, and added it to a new song. The finished product is one of the coolest, most beautiful things I have been a part of.
This month on Patreon, I am doing a special song collaboration with my patrons! I have asked them to submit recordings of themselves singing and I am editing all of their voices into one giant choir as part of a new song! Join us!
It's been a very busy year already, with another new song, "Super Blue Blood Moon," and a new collaboration with Amanda Palmer -- a string tribute to the extraordinary Dolores O'Riordan of The Cranberries.
Starting off the new year with a new song ("Reminder"), a collaboration with Eliza Rickman covering The Mountain Goats ("Riches & Wonders"), two new 7" vinyl singles in the shop, a project announcement and a couple live dates!
Come see me with Devendra Banhart in Cologne for Week-end Fest next week, and with Amanda Palmer at Union Chapel in London next month. You can also check out a new release by Mirah, featuring string arrangements by yours truly, and an upcoming 7" single collaboration with Robert Forster of The Go Betweens.
