It's here! Cistern is officially out this Friday, July 15th. I couldn't be more excited! This has been quite a long time coming, and I cannot wait to share it with all of you. In fact, the lovely folks at Brooklyn Vegan are streaming the entire album now here! Get to it - Ghostbusters can wait!
As if things couldn't get even more exciting, I am stunned, stoked and nearly speechless to announce that I have been selected as the artist for Times Square Arts' August Midnight Moment. For those who don't know about it, Midnight Moment is a wonderful series that grants an artist an entire month to showcase their work on over 40 screens in Times Square from 11:57pm to midnight. That's right - my video for "Cistern" will be played every night for the entire month of August in Times Square. Someone pinch me. Special shoutout to my main man Jim Batt, the director and co-producer for the Cistern video series. He has slaved day and night to get the video together, and it is looking incredible! Also, thanks to Evan Lorden, James Reeves, Sam Graydon and David Rowe for their invaluable help!
In addition to Midnight Moment, on August 21st and 22nd, I will actually be performing music from Cistern in the middle of Times Square. To make things even more incredible, I will be joined by the wonderful ensemble Contemporaneous, who are the folks I recorded Cistern with. We will be playing electronically, with the audio feed being sent to 400 headphones that will be handed out. Everyone else walking by will only see us play - not hear us. I think that will be quite a spectacle in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
While I'm in New York, I'll also be playing an album release show at National Sawdust on August 19th. Once again, I will be joined by the ultra-talented Contemporaneous. It will be the first time we've played the music from Cistern live together, so it will be a very special performance. More info and tickets available here.
This month of NY Cistern awesomeness co-presented by Times Square Alliance, Times Square Advertising Coalition and National Sawdust, with special thanks to all of the Kickstarter backers who helped make Cistern happen!
